Early Life and Education

Greg Abbott was born on November 13, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University.

Abbott began his political career in 1995, when he was elected to the Texas Supreme Court. He served as a justice on the court until 2001, when he was elected Texas Attorney General. He held that position until 2015, when he was elected Governor of Texas.
